Membership for the summer 2010
Dear old and prospective members: Please be in touch via our website announcements. We are going to post the membership application form for the 2010 season in the midst of April. Keep in mind that we have a limited quota of membership. See you all on the courts in the upcoming summer.
CLOSING DAY
On Monday, October 12th we are going to put the Trinity College Tennis Club onto the sleep over the winter. Please come out for helping us to put down the wind screens and nets at 12 o'clock (noon).
We think that everybody enjoyed the End-of-Year party at BLU Ristorante in Yorkville. If you'd like to see the pictures of the night, or moreover, if you'd like to download them for your archive or for printing please visit our Flickr site by clicking HERE. We thank to all members, who came out to make this night an enjoyable and memorable event.

This Sunday @ 5 PM
Please be sure to bring your ticket to the BLU Ristorante & Lounge at 17 Yorkville Avenue, on Sunday the 4th at 5:00 PM. At the door when you hand in your ticket you will receive a new draw ticket. Hopefully yours will be a winner. For those of you that are paying $30 at the door, you will also receive your draw ticket as you enter. Looking forward to seeing you all at the BLU.
Last call for the cut-price party tickets
As of Wednesday, Sept 30th the ticket price for the End-of-Year party will be $30 for all members. Hurry up and get your ticket for $25. You can provide your ticket(s) from Ann Bartok, Oz Tekson, or Daniel Ho.

AGM 2009 and Merv's Birthday
On Sunday afternoon, TCTC AGM of 2009 took place. We thank to all members who showed up, listened, and shared their ideas and opinions. After the meeting we celebrated Merv's 80th birthday. Open Executive Position
Ann Bartok is stepping down after a successful season. As the TCTC Executive Committee, we are looking for a person who is interested in the Social Events Director position, which is a three-year-term position. For the details you can contact Ann Bartok via e-mail or phone. She would be more than happy to answer your questions. Or, please join the AGM meeting, which will be held on Sunday, September 20th, at 3 o'clock at the club.
Reg Cowan 2009 Champions
In the finals of the 2009 Reg Cowan Mixed Doubles Tournament, Ann Bartok and Patrice Lezama defeated Christine Law and John Tse by the score of 7-5, 6-2. The match was graciously officiated by Gary Hong and Soudack Lam. If you are interested you can download and see the results of the matches . Thanks to all participants and audience who made this event so much fun.

Courts' Lock
It's time we put the Trinity College lock on the courts' entrance. Please use the key attached to the red plastic key chain in the clubhouse to enter the courts.

REG COWAN
Here is the last and the most fun tournament of the season.The tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 12-13. The deadline to sign up is Tuesday, Sept. 8th, 5 pm. Same day, during the social at seven o'clock, we have a draw, where team players will be randomly selected from a hat/bag.
This event is great fun and this it is a great way to close out the TCTC 2009 season.

2009 TCTC Singles Tournament Champions
In the final match played in the early afternoon, Porch Jan defeated Daniela Konfronte in two sets: 6-2 and 6-1, and became this year's women's singles champion. The men's final was played in the late afternoon after the almost-traditional Portuguese Chicken. Both players looked tired, especially in the end of the match, due to the semi-final matches they had played in the morning. Nevertheless, they performed a high quality tennis to the audience. Dan DeAngelis was the player who left the court as this year's TCTC Men's Singles champion. He defeated Nick Stoute in two sets, 6-4 and 6-2. We thank to all participants and the audience, who made this event so enjoyable. Congratulations to this year's champions.

TCTC Men's and Women's A and B Singles Tournament
The tournament will be held at the upcoming two weekends, August 8-9 and 15-16. The deadline for signing up for this year's Singles Tournament is 5pm, Wednesday, August 5th. Please use the sign-up sheet at the club to register. If you do not wish to post your telephone number or email on the sign-up sheet, please provide this information to Chris Manansala. Here are the details of the tournament:
+ Date of First Round Matches: Saturday, August 8 - Approximate start time is 9am
+ Date of Final Match: Sunday, August 16 - Not before 2pm
Note: Match times may be subject to change as the event progresses

The Results of the Men's and Women's Doubles Tournament
On Sunday afternoon, Sonia Khan and Porch Jan defeat Nicola Woods and Nicole Hong in two sets (6-3 and 6-2); and won this year's women's doubles tournament. Same day in the evening Kevin Bolger and Mike Goldstein defeat Steven Rumazza and Chris Manansala in two sets (6-2 and 6-2); and became 2009 men's doubles champions. Congratulations! We thank all players, who participated in the tournament, and the members who came out to watch the matches and contributed to the event. While the games were on, a delicious Mexican food was served to accentuate the concept of the social event. You can see the photos of the day by clicking here. Feel free to post comments underneath the pictures. In addition to these, Daniel Ho and Cythia Barry were the lucky winners of the tickets to the Rogers Cup.

On Sunday July 12th, we are having another social as we watch the finals of the men's & women's doubles tournament. The theme for our social is Mexican, so come and create your own taco.
Plus; there will be a draw for 2 FREE tickets to the Rogers Cup.
The following Monday evening, July 13th. there is a Round Robin from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Light snack will be provided.
2009 Mixed Doubles Tournament Winners
This year's Mixed Doubles Tournament winners are Steve Rumazza and Porch Jan. They won the match against Chris Manansala and Darlene Hebert, the sets 6/4 and 6/4, between the rain showers on Sunday night. Congratulations.
Men's & Women's Doubles Tournament

Wimbledon & English Tea
Unfortunately, due to the bad weather conditions on Sunday we cancelled the tea. We'll try to sip our tea with scones beside juicy strawberries and cream some other time.
Mixed Doubles Final & English Tea
Last week we were not able to resume the mixed doubles tournament due to the bad weather conditions. Thus, the semi-final (in the morning) and final (in the afternoon) matches will be played on Sunday, June 28th.
At four o'clock, in regard to the Wimbledon Tournament the tea will be served in conformity with the tradition.
That's not all. There will be a draw:
Two TCTC members, who are present at the event, will win FREE TICKETS for the Rogers Cup.
BBQ on Sunday, June 21st
We are having a BBQ, which is going to start after two o'clock in the afternoon. Come out and enjoy the event while you are watching the mixed doubles tournament matches.

The traditional Merv Mason Wooden Racquet Round Robin
On Sunday June 7th, we are having the third MERV MASON Wooden Racquet round robin. Bring your wooden racquet to (re-)experience the tennis of old days. If you don't have one, don't worry, because there will be some to borrow. It's really fun... The round robin and the social event will start at 1 pm.
The second Round Robin of the season
On Sunday May 24th, we are having the second Round
Robin of the season, which will start at 1 pm. Show up a little bit early before it starts. There is BBQ, as well. Come out
and enjoy.
Membership
We thank to all our returning, and new members for sending their application forms early—before the summer has started. Hereby we announce that (as of April 28th) there is NO SPOT LEFT for new membership applications. We wish a nice summer and good games to all tennis players.
Opening Night
We had a great opening night party at Quail and Firkin. We thank to Ann for the convenient location of the spacious venue, and the good organization. At the party, old and new members mingled with each other, some people won prizes, some people entertained themselves with the dart game. You can see the pictures of event on our Photos page. Remember, every member is free to add comments under the pictures (click on the comments, and start typing).
Note: We have found a necklace. If it's yours please see Merv to pick it up.
Welcome to another great TCTC tennis season
Here's hoping for sunny weather starting with opening Saturday, April 18 and extending all the way to closing on Thanksgiving Monday, October 12. We already sent this year's Complete Mailout Package.
Remember that returning members who get your applications with payment in before April 1 will be eligible for the $90 early bird membership fee instead of the $100 charge that applies to returning members after that date ($125 for new members before or after April 1).
